I bought a 80gb iv segate disk few weeks ago to replace my extremely loud wd se, well it is very silent but every now and then it starts making this buzzing sound. There is no reason for it, no hd activity going on, and I just have to minimize or close a few windows for the noise to go away. Just doesnt make any sense

now it just started, closed one windows explorer window and it went away.

any ideas?

Back up your drive and RMA it. You shouldn't ne able to hear it, let alone hear 'buzzing'
By the way, when you use explorer Windows will access the HD to show its contents and make sure its up to date.
