i just loaded up quake3 for the first time ins a while, and i got really weird artifacts in the sky in quake3. triangles of fmessed up textures, but in the sky only. this happens with my cpu and vid card overclocked and without, but it didn't happen a week and a half ago. the only thing chaged was that i installed the 23.1's, but i went back to my original 22.5's with which i didn't have a problem. i've reinstalled quakeIII and it's patches, and it hasn't helped.

any idea what the problem is?

Not sure if this is it but Geforce cards used to have ugly textures under Quake3 sky when using s3tc... try disabling it and see if it goes away...i thought it was fixed...not really sure

it's not like that, more of a geometry/texture error, ie. there are swaths of triangles that constantly move that are textured incorrectly. it looks like errors cause by heat, but it happens only in the sky and regardless of the overclock. my system is well cooled, so i don't think heat is an issue (i checked to make sure that all of my fans are working, and they are).
