Weird named folders appearing on my F: drive

On my F: drive, folders have been randomly showing up. The folder names seem to be random strings of letters and numbers. The latest folder was named "b328b5780628a48d8e4c76c1". Inside the folder is another folder named update, which contains two files: update.exe and wpdinstallutil.dll.

There are between 0 and 3 of these folders present at any time. I erase them when I see them, so I am not sure whether they go away by themselves or not.

Are these legitimate Windows update files or is this some kind of virus?

Here is a screen cap of one of the folders. Notice the folder hierarchy and the oddly named folder. screencap
