Hi!
I tried building a computer with an Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA motherboard, but couldn't get it to run and ended up returning the board. I'd like to know if anyone has any idea what was wrong, though. Keep in mind that I had the bare minimum (CPU P4-640, RAM, power supply) connected at all times.
The first problem I had was that the computer would turn on the minute I switched on the power supply. I didn't even have to press the power button on the front of the computer. Also, pressing the power button for 4 seconds would not turn off the PC. This would happen with or without the front panel wires connected to the motherboard and with the many power supplies I tried.
The second problem was that I had no output on the computer monitor. My screen would always remain in power save mode. I tried a bunch of different AGP and PCI-Express video cards as well as DDR and DDR2 memory modules (it's an hybrid board that supports both video and memory types), but nothing would work.
Does anyone know what might have been wrong? Was the board really defective?
Thanks!
