I have this old p4,512mb,128mb gpu computer. The problem with it is that it is not always powering my monitor at every boot. In order to power an amber light flashing monitor i have to reset the cmos. I have tried different gpu still same problem.

Either the GOU is going bad of the motherboard is. But first try a differnt cable for the monitor as well as a differnt monitor.

Now even with a new battery it does the same thing, the monitor indicator light is flashing amber like it is in sleep mode, but not always boot even if I take the CMOS out and put it back in. Now, I tried two different video cards and two different monitors, still same problem. I have ran out of ideas actually, not sure what to test now. If the cpu was bad then I would see some error on the dos or hear the beeps, now nothing. I don't see how the motherboard is bad. What can I do?
