Weird Monitor Artifacts - any ideas?! I need HELP!

I just moved homes and got my computer set up in my new room, and now the picture on my monitor is messed up whereas before it was perfectly OK. It's producing these sort of "shadows" (which always show up right of the shadow producing object). They appear as faint alternating bands of blue and red on light backgrounds and just look like multi-layered shadows on darker backgrounds. The shadows are produced mostly by darker colors, but are still evident with lighter ones.

I've tried moving nearby stereo equipment, degaussing the screen, and moving the monitor, none of which produced any positive results.

My suspicion is that a nearby set of shelves (with metal mounts and brackets) is the cause of the problem, but because so many factors are different, I can't be sure. So, has anyone had a similar experience, and what was the problem? Also, how did you correct the problem?

Just in case it might help, I have a Nokia 445XPro, 21", standard Invar Shadow Mask CRT. Thanks in advance!

I think the cause is that there are some electric fields in the room. That can be stereo, tv, shelves, or even the power lines inside the walls.

I think what you can do it check out your video driver. Most of the driver I think has a utility to adjust the position of the green, blue, and red gun. So you can actually "move" to guns so that they aline with each other.

I have tried it this my uncle's computer coz' he had the same problem, but I forgot where it is already. Try to find it under the display properties.

Thanks for the help, Romin. I actually figured out the problem: one of the pins on the cable was slightly bent and it was touching another one. Anyway, all is good now! THanks!
