Car is a 08 BMW 328i vert. This is the second time this is occurring. First was a few months after I bought the car and shortly after changing to oil. Figured it may be the plugs since there was 60k on them. Replaced them and no problems since.

70k later the misfires have returned and two days after an oil change too. Getting multiple misfires from cylinder 1, 3 and 6. I suspect it was the plugs again and since I'm in there I'll do the coils too since I didn't before. $300 in parts arrived and I get them replaced thinking my worries are over. Nope, still getting misfires on 6 so I pull the plug and reseat everything even though I double checked all cylinders just before.

Bingo! That did it, no more misfires and I'm happy again. Well it didn't last long though. Two weeks later and getting misfires again on 6. Swapped the coil with 1 and it goes away. Took it out and did a WOT run and everything is good. Next morning it comes back after a brisk WOT to pass a car. I get to work and restart the engine and it goes away but comes back half way home.

Luckily I kept the old coils so I swapped 1 with an old one. Misfires immediately stops and still good after repeated WOT runs. No problems this morning either so this is where I'm at. I suspect I got a defective coil so I'm going to see if I can get an exchange but already tossed the packaging and who knows what they'll say since it's been over two weeks.
