Weird little issue with text

Why is it sometimes, I cut and paste a draft message from this forum, and put it in a hotmail window and it is fine; and others, it loses all double spacing between lines?

So when it works, it sends:

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

And other times the same thing is pasted as

Paragraph1
Paragraph2

When it's not working, a paste to notepad still has the double spacing ok.

I don't know when it will and won't do that. There's a chance it might be different browsers, but I'm doubting that.

I dunno Craig. I haven't used "Hotmail" in years. When I was going to school, they provided me with a "Windows Live" email account, (replaced hotmail) and there's a button to change to/from rich text formatting. (I don't know if there's a key shortcut for it or not...probably, there is for almost everything else)

That was a good idea, but I don't think it was a rich text issue.

I tried changing that in hotmail, and it had a popup warning I haven't seen when I change it back and forth, and I don't recognize the look when I went to 'simple' text.

However, the problem continues to occur.

In fact, two problems I'm not sure are related - one the loss of carriage returns when I cut and paste, the other the loss of my cursor sometimes in text boxes.

So that moving the cursor around is working, but I can't see the cursor; but if I type, it's at the correct location where I moved the cursor to.

It's kind of annoying because I can't save posts with carriage returns with e-mail.

It happens also on some forums. In HTML, double spaces don't execute. Switch to RTF and they do. Internet pastes into some email compose boxes make all hard returns double spaced. The fix is to first paste in Notepad, then copy and paste to email. My rule for this is basically, don't hive it - spec it. :)

Tried cutting and pasting to notepad and then to post box, it had no effect. Some of your post was not clear to me.

A possibility is to paste both cases into MS Word as un-formatted text, with display paragraphing turned on in MS Word to see what control characters are coming along with the pasted text (ie, for comparison).

Also, try using Notepad++ instead: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Notepad didn't help but I just cut and pasted to Wordpad and then the e-mail and that did work. I still have no idea why this happens, there should be a better fix.

Update: if I cut and paste the text from the e-mail that looks ok and has been put in wordpad, back into notepad, there are three blank lines between paragraphs.
