my computer has been busted for a while, but it still runs. Here's the problem:
I have a epox 8k7a and a 1.2 ghz T-bird, and a little while ago it started making this squeaky noise when i turn it on, as well as crash out of any game i play with huge vertical lines across the screen, usually in different colors.
It did this with a Geforce 4 MX 440, and a radeon 8500.
I'm thinking the VGA slot might be busted, since it crashes out of anything direct 3d in a matter of seconds as well as sometimes suddenly freezing when i'm switching between windows on a computer.
I don't think a failing power supply can do this, can it?
