Weird LCD Issue - Dead Pixel???

Hey folks,

Just got my new 19" LCD Monitor.

Hooked up using Analog at native 1280x1024 from a Radeon 9600. Latest Drivers for everything, Windows XP fully loaded with all updates.

Problem:

1. I set my Desktop to black with no wallpaper.
2. I open a medium size window and move it around.
3. At certain window positions, two particular pixels on the screen turn bright green. When moving the window away from the area of those pixels, they turn black again. When I play a full screen 3D game, the green pixels exist and show up (i.e. become visible) whenever a dark area of the game screen goes "under" the pixels.

Anyone know what's going on here?

My limited knowledge of dead pixels say that they either work or they don't. Based on this, why are my pixels going green but ALSO black? Or is there something else up here...

Thanks for any help.

my guess is that for the three colors in each pixel (rgb), only one of them (the green) is working.

exchange it quick :)

edit- have you tried setting the wallpaper to white?

Good idea.

Tried setting the desktop white.

It's very hard to see, but the funny pixels changes to a light grey when the window is placed near those pixels. I have to lean in real close to see it.

I'm not sure whether it's really grey or it's just that everything else is white so my eyes can't see the green.

If they are dead pixels, there are only 2, so I can't exchange I'm afraid. :(

2 is actually not too bad for a 19'' monitor :) I have a black one on my 17,'' and after awhile, you learn not to notice it unless you look really hard to find it. On the AT FAQ's, they suggest massaging it, and sometimes, they even go away on their own.
