Weird laptop problem

When i run my laptop on battery life it'll show a steady drain till about 80% (this lasts maybe 20 minutes) then all of the sudden it'll show critical power and it'll be at 4%. So in total my laptop maybe has 25 minutes of battery life. what can be the problem?

The only explanation i can think of is that the battery is too old. I've had this laptop for over a year and its been plugged into the wall for most of the time because i dont take it around that often. can it be that the battery is overcharged or something? what i dont get is that theres a steady drain in teh first 20 %

oh btw i have a Toshiba Satellite 1105, i have no idea what kind of battery it is.

I already posted in the laptop forum but since so many people read ATOT i figure i give this a shot

battery could be broken or someting, maybe try completely draining it, then let it recharge fully
drain it again, recharge it? duno
 
this try what rival has suggested... recondition. the battery / power management might not be reporting the correct data.... over a period of time.
