weird KT7/duron/overclocking problem... anyone seen this?

my friend and i built a duron 600/KT7 system for him after i had much success with mine. it worked perfectly initially, but when we tried to overclock it we ran into some difficulty. namely, when we change any cpu settings in the softmenu and reboot, the machine refuses to even post. if you hard power-off the machine and then turn it back on, though, it boots fine at the speed we set it to. a couple of times it wouldn't even post from a hard boot though, so i had to clear the cmos. it's really kinda random. anyone know what could be causing this? bad pencil trick perhaps? he's got very standard hardware (geforce 2 mx, sb live, etc) so i don't think that's a problem.

thanks for your help, he's desperate to overclock. 🙂

If you are just changing the multiplier and you didn't unlock it correctly, this is probably the problem. Try upping the fsb by 1 and leavign the multiplier at 6 and see what happens. I got my duron 650 unlocked, and after burning it in, i have it running at 1050 now.
