Weird K8N neo 2 problem

I just RMA'd a defective MSI K8N neo2 mobo to newegg and recieved a new one. I've run into a very intresting problem.

When I have my Corsair XMS PC3200 TWINX v1.1 (bh5) installed in Dual Channel configuration, the system hangs on "memory test" according to the D bracket 2 diagnostic lights and refuses to post. Now, if I put the RAM in a single channel configuration, the system boots fine with the ram set at 166mhz....

Anyone have any idea whats going on here???

I've tested this ram extensivly on my old setup using MemTest86 and was unable to find any errors, so I don't think it's my ram...

Complete spec list with your troubleshooting request always helps 🙂 Brand & model of the power supply is of interest. So is the memory voltage you're using on the modules here. If it's Auto, set it to 2.7 volts, then Save & Exit and let the system complete another entire POST so it knows the settings are safe to keep, then shut down and try both modules again.

MSI k8n Neo2 Platinum
AMD64 3500+
eVGA 6800gt
1g1 Corsair XMS TWINX v1.1 (bh5)
Antec TruePower 430watt

When I booted in single channel mode, I bumped the voltage on the ram to 2.65v, then restarted. I'll try 2.7v and see if that changes anything.

2.7v didn't help. It dosen't make sense.. why would it boot fine to single channel (with both DIMMS installed), but when in dual channel it won't even post.

Does the manual specify which exact two slots should be used with one pair of modules (and are you using that pair)? Double-check if you didn't already, because I believe it may matter.

Yeah, the manual does specify slots, but they're the one's i'm using :|

I tried pulling the DDR from my HTPC and installed it (2x 256mb Corsair ValueRAM, single sided DIMM) and it didn't run either, so that pretty much eliminates a problem with my ram, or a problem with the fact that my XMS is a double sided DIMM. :| :|

I'm running out of ideas to try.
