So I'm not exactly sure which component is causing the problem, all I know is this:
Whenever I install the latest Catalyst drivers on my computer, the monitor is not detected by Windows or Catalyst as a "compatible" monitor. This needs a bit of an explanation so here goes...
I just got a 46" Samsung LCD TV. I plugged it in last night and fooled around with it. Everything worked great (had the latest drivers installed too). The Acer 22" worked too. Then, just for kicks and curiousity, I disabled my 22" LCD from the Catalyst menu. I expected to be able to just "enable" it again and have everything working normally. That's when all the trouble started...
I have both displays plugged in right now but only the 46" TV is working. The 22" is in stand-by mode as if it wasn't recieving a signal at all. I've tried unplugging the Samsung, and that results in Windows loading up with these settings, using the 22" Acer:
I have tried changing the settings but this wouldn't work. From the looks of it the resolution is the lowest it can possibly be, as is the colour scheme (think Windows 3.1 or earlier).
I have tried downloading drivers for the monitor but can't seem to find any. I downloaded something from the Acer website and when I pointed Windows to the folder containing the supposed drivers, nothing was found.
The only thing that works is if I uninstall Catalyst. Then the monitor works at its native resolution. Unfortunately this defeats the purpose of having 2 displays as I can't use dual-view (or w/e ATI calls it) with just the basic Windows drivers.
Can anyone pleeeease tell me how to resolve this issue? I'm going to be formatting my comp in about 2 hours if I don't figure it out but I'd really like to avoid that. All I want is the damn Catalyst Control Centre to detect my 22" Acer, so I can set it as the default monitor again and use the TV as the secondary.
Big thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.
