Weird issue with TV - any suggestions?

TV has been crapping out on my lately - this is a Sony Edge Lit LCD that I bought a year or so ago. Problem is that when I turn on the TV, one side of the screen will randomly turn black or at least look smudgy. Problem persists until I flex or bend the screen, after which the screen will be fine for another 30 minutes until I have to bend it again.

Any ideas what is going on? Originally I thought it was an overheating issue but it looks as if it may be something else.

It sounds like there's a bad connection internally. Possibly solder joints or something with the panel itself.

Is it under warranty? I'd get it replaced / fixed ASAP.
