Weird issue with RMclock utility

I've been using RM clock installed on my Gateway m-6862 laptop, for undervolting my CPU. I noticed an oddity while running the program. While the laptop is plugged in the CPU load is running normally in between 20%-30% and the CPU idle temps are in the low 20Cs. Just as soon as I unplug the AC cord, the CPU load jumps up to 80%-90% and sits there and the idle temp of the CPU slowly creeps up to around 50C. When I plug the AC cord back in the CPU load drops back to the 20%-30% and CPU temps seem to normalize.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this and how I might fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
