weird issue with my network places

So yet again I had to change my network over to accomadate a couple new additions and a couple changes. Well i am trying to set up my windows xp file sharing and thought i had set everything up properly but when i try to view my network places. I click on the workgroup and it doesn't show any computers (not even the one I am checking from). I have gone through most of teh ezlan tutorials and even spent about 3 hours last night trying to just test each setting and I can figure out what absolutely no computers are showing up in the workgroups. Also not sure if this helps but if i type in \\workgroup\computer it comes back with path not found. Any help or maybe a link to help is greatly appreciated.

Don't use "my network places". It is an effort in futility and easily fubarred (espeically if anything changes or a machine is rebooted).

Use \\ipaddress or \\computername
