I have two 3COM 3CR990SRV97 NICs. They are both configured exactly the same, which is all protocols unchecked except for Dynamic Access, which is configured separately.
Basically, Dynamic Access uses a single driver to access both NICs. This allows them both to be bound to a single IP, and automaticallly load balance and provide failover support in hardware.
I have it configured to DHCP because that's how my DSL works. On boot, it will assign an IP, and it will usually work and balance just fine for about 20-30 minutes, and then I lose my net connection, and can't renew my IP without rebooting.
I have a Cisco 1534M Managed Hub at home, and I'm wondering if maybe it is finding that two different MAC addresses are using the same TCP/IP address, and shutting off the ports or something.
I know that DA is working correctly, because if I disable a single NIC, it runs just fine with one with all of the configs the same.
Could the Hub be killing me? Or any ideas of where to look?
I know that I'm not getting double bandwidth because I'm on a hub vs. a switch, but I want it all up and configured for when I take it somewhere a switch is being used, and also to have the failover capability running.
