(Windows 10 64 bit, Asus Z87-Pro)
I have an electronic cigarette battery/vaporizer which is plugged into my PC's USB. I had never an issue with this, the device has a pass-through function so it draws power from the port while vaping and charges.
What happened is that I when I normally unplug and replug the battery, it starts blinking quickly red, red, orange, orange, green, green, indicating the state of the battery.
Yesterday I had a problem with my wife's charger/USB micro cable and tested it on my PC until I found a micro USB cable that worked for wife.
Afterwards, when I plug in MY (ecig) battery with my MY cable, I don't see the LED flashing sequence anymore, which looks like the device is not charging any longer from my USB. (I tested the cable and the USB port, the cable works and the USB port works, my mouse or kindle works w/ the same cable and USB port).
The WEIRD thing is that it also doesn't seem to charge with the AC adapter and using the micro USB cable, but charges when I plug it into the LAPTOP, but only if the laptop has not booted into windows. (The Laptop is actually TURNED OFF). When I plug the ecig/battery in the laptop I get the normal LED blinking sequence. When I booted into Windows on the laptop, nothing.
So my suspicion is that it has something to do with USB port initialization whether the device charges or not. I already checked power settings, selective suspend etc. but no change.
Anyone have an idea here?
Note: When I plug the device into my Win10 PC it comes up as "Unknown USB device, Device descriptor request failed).
But this it also did when everything worked, I actually would expect this since the ecig of course is not an actual "device" that would need drivers or something.
EDIT/UPDATE: Nevermind, it seems it's only the charging light on the ecig not working as it should.
