weird issue - MSI 7275 HP P6000 system

USB is completely dead in this machine. The two front ports and the 4 back ports do not work. I can boot up into the main bios screen, but no power comes to mouse or keyboard and I don't have any PS2 keyboards around anymore. I've tried clearing the cmos, trying a different power supply, swapping around RAM, etc, and nope, no USB works at all. Anyone see this before? I ended up buying a refurbed board off ebay, but wondered if anyone had words of wisdom that I hadn't tried yet.

Have you tried disconnecting the front ports from the board to see if there may be a short?

After reading these posts, this morning I tried unplugging the front usb port connector and no change. I've unplugged everything -- both dvd drives, the hard drive, the fans, etc, and no power to usb still. It just comes up to the bios screen.
