Weird issue after installing 980Ti

Hello,

Over the weekend, I replaced my MSI Lightning 780 with a new MSI Gaming 980 Ti (system specs are in sig below). I physically installed the card, cabled all my monitors to the card via DisplayPort cables, booted into Windows, and then installed the latest NVidia drivers. Everything went pretty smoothly and the framerates rock!

However, I am noticing a strange issue that I've not noticed before. Periodically, when I am typing, the system seems to pause for a fraction of a second and then several characters are automatically typed. For example, if I am typing the word "forever" and a pause happens, the word appearing in the text box may be "forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.." and I'll have to go back and correct it.

Any ideas what might be causing this? At first, I thought it only occurred when I had Steam open and I did read about some similar issues with Steam causing this, but this morning, it is happening without Steam open or ever having been opened yet today. A couple of items of note:

1. The keyboard is plugged into a USB hub, which is plugged into my system. I think it *MAY* be plugged into an Asmedia USB 3.0 port and if that's the case, I could see that as an issue. I need to confirm and if so, move it to an Intel port.
2. This system has weird USB issues. A few months ago, the mouse just suddenly would stop working and probably 50% of the time, when I boot, the keyboard won't be recognized and I'll have to reboot the system. This morning, I had some issues getting the mouse and keyboard recognized so I had to mess around plugging the mouse into different ports before I finally got it working.
3. A couple of months ago, I experienced a few instances of what appeared to be certain keys being locked "on" when playing the game Heroes and Generals. A friend said that has happened to him before, so I thought it was probably a bug in the game and didn't think much more of it.

Things I've tried:

1. As I mentioned, I originally thought that Steam was responsible. This morning, however, the issue seems to be back WITHOUT Steam being loaded.
2. In my informal testing, it seems that this issue seems to happen more frequently when I am typing very fast.
3. I do know that this particular issue did NOT occur before I installed my 980 Ti. I can't quite see how that installation could be related to this issue and suspect it is just coincidental.
4. I do not see events in the event log corresponding to when this issue occurs.
5. I haven't yet tried a different keyboard, as that is the next thing I need to do. I suppose it is possible my keyboard is bad, though no keys are physically sticking.

UPDATE: Found another keyboard and plugged it into a different USB port. In quick testing, I am not seeing an issue with that keyboard. So it seems to be either my keyboard OR the hub/port.

I had sort of the same thing (same but not really...)

I reinstalled my GTX760 back into my desktop PC and reloaded Precision X... and now I can't scan on my Canon printer (I can print, I just can't scan.) Just weird. I'm not blaming NVidia... well, not really.

As an aside, I saw this on another thread:

Use: Control Panel; Power Options; Change Plan Settings and under USB Settings, change 'USB selective suspend' to Disabled.

Make sure your USB isn't trying to save power by going to sleep.

Thanks. I disabled that setting as I wonder if it was causing some other issues.

I'm now using another keyboard plugged into a different USB port and I have not had any issues, so I believe it is the port or the USB hub. I have a replacement hub I could use but I think I'll just get another USB extension cable and plug the current keyboard directly into the back of the system. I think the keyboard is probably fine.

I've had weird USB issues in my last 2 or 3 systems; you'd think that by now, it would work flawlessly 100% of the time.

I have them, too... but I really think the USB ports on my old Z68 board, at least the ones I plug and unplug a lot, are just getting worn out. I have problems with my external drives sometimes, and the front center USB2 port on my Fractal case is almost unusable.
