Weird IE issue...

Yeah, I know, this sounds weird. I've got a friend that is having a problem with IE. He did have some spyware (not sure which ones) installed, but supposedly between AdAware and Spybot his PC is clean. He noticed an odd little thing happening still in IE 6.0.

Whenever the word "load" would normally appear on the screen, there is a blank space. For example, if the web page he was on said "Click here to download this file..." he would see "Click here to down this file..." The word "downloaded" appears as "down ed".

I haven't seen the problem first hand, but he says this issue only occurs in IE. It does not happen in Firefox or any other app. He's running XP SP1 with IE 6.0 So far I've been unsuccessful in Googling for answers.

Anyone here have any suggestions as to what he could try?

Thanks!
Tom
