Weird i7 build issue after adding more RAM

I have a gigabyte motherboard GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1 paired with

930 cpu
12gb corsair XMS 1.65v 9-9-924 timings
Seasonic psu 750 gold

The issue is when I populate all 6 slots with memory it will fail to post, just powers on and sits there. If I remove 1 stick, boot to bios and select 1.66v (my options are 1.64 and 1.66) and select 9.9.9.24 timings (running @ 1066 trying to help stability and since from benchmarks it doesnt help to go higher) and then save I can shutdown and then replace stick 6 and all is well.

The problem comes in that I have a 2 year old daughter that likes to press buttons and my gigabyte board fails to post due to lets say wandering little hands pressing power and reset. It will failsafe back to 1.5v and the board again fails to post until I bump the voltage and just go in and just look at the settings and save and exit.

Now I know the obvious answer is to just keep her away, but sometimes when I am working and my wife is off she gets in our room and mucks for a few minutes until caught and I'm stuck fixing it.

Any idea of other solutions? Any reason 5 sicks (any 5, so not just 1 bad one) would run @ 1.5 but 6 wont?

get an older antec/chenming case, that has a door and a lock, that protects the power/reset switches. You find this feature more on server cases.

How often do you use reset? If never like most people just remove the leed from the MB. Change the power button in windows to " do nothing " or sleep and you should be good to go 🙂

Thats actually not a bad idea, my reset button is concealed by a door (NZXT Lexa case)
