Weird Heat Issue

So today, I took out my heatsink (Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7) and applied some Arctic Silver 5 to it. Yes, I already did take the necessary steps to clean up the heatsink and whatnot. But yeah, I applied a rice-size amount on my CPU and now I've been getting temps of around 80ºC on full load! What the EFF? Before it used to be like 62ºC but this is just outrageous!

What did I do wrong?

Alright, I'll check again!

Apparently, I only applied like HALF the amount of what I'm supposed to apply. LOL!

that seems very unlikely. most problems with hsf's involve too much thermal paste being applied. all you need is a VERY thin layer. In fact, I usually just put a thin line running directly over the two cores. a quad core requires two lines to get both sets of two cores. I think my temps are pretty good, too (right now at 47 c 100%)
