I have an LG IPS224 connected to my laptop via HDMI. The video works fine. The audio is really annoying.
By default it seems that if the laptop has an HDMI in, the audio goes through the HDMI. I'd really like for the audio to come directly out of the 3.5mm jack on my laptop, but either I'm too dumb to figure it out or it just doesn't work like that.
The annoying bit starts when I turn my monitor off, or when it goes to sleep. Because when it wakes, it seems to forget that it has audio through the cable, and the speakers that are connected to the monitor don't have any sound out anymore. The REALLY annoying thing is that if I then plug my speakers into my laptop, it still doesn't work. It only gets fixed with a reboot.
TLDR: My monitor sometimes banishes my audio out and it disappears into the ether.
