Hello all,
I occasionally get a hang during start-up with Windows 2000. The hang up occurs after the Win2000k splash screen, where the blue "loading" line just finishes moving to the end.
There has always been a short pause, but now it hangs there and I have to press reset button to restart.

I am autologging onto the comp
no O/Cing
Dell XPS T-500
PIII-500mhz
384 SDRAM
No event logs created

Any ideas? I would appreciate them.

Thanks,
Bob

Press F8 during booting to choose safe boot or enable VGA boot. See if you can get into windows.

Did you install anything to the comp? I'm guessing video driver's bad. It could be something else.

Thanks Yata,

I also have a feeling it is the video card drivers, nvidia newest version on a TNT 16MB. It doesn't do it all the time just sometimes.
Thanks for the help.

For the TNT series, the last stable and TNT specific were version 6.50, and you can still find them on the NVIdia site if you search for 6.50 there. Anything later and its optimized for the GeForce series.

That loading section is where the computer finds out what hardware you have and preps the drivers for loading. I don't know why it would hang there though. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Um, does it ever complete the loading process or does it lock every time?
