Weird green problem on divx

I make backup copies of DVD's with Gordian Knot Divx 5 format.

Lately when I try to view them with WinDVD or Windows media player all I get is varying shades of green. I tried the cd out in my other computer and Windows media player plays it perfectly. Also, on the computer that has the green problem, I can play it perfectly in winamp. Is it a bad codec that winamp is not using or is something wrong with the video card?

WinDVD plays dvd's without the green problem as well

Sapphire Radeon 9100 64MB latest Catalyst drivers(fubared on previous as well)
Windows 2k sp3

Maybe you'r 4CC codec format was switched, or an incorrect filter is rendering (attempting) your Divx. Gspot can be useful for identifying codec issues. Older FFDShow or XviD filters can cause this. This may help if thats the problem.

Think uninstalling divx and reinstalling might help?

it's worth a shot. as mentioned though, get GSPOT and see what codec you are missing.

You need to find out which filter/decoder is actually being used during playback. It seems that one other than DivX 5 may have priority. There are a bunch of MPEG-4 decoders: DivX variants, XViD, fddshow, Nero, etc. I use Media Player Classic and under the menu Play -> Filters you can see and which ones are being used to play the current file.

I used to get that when I ran DVD?s on my ATI 7500 when I had my monitor in 16bit instead of 32bit color. Switching back to 32bit solved problem.

EDIT: IT was a Sapphire 7500.

Hmmm I am running at 16 bit just so I can set my refresh rate at 100. So if it happens again I might try that.

Uninstalled divx 5 and 3.1 and installed divx pro 5. I also reinstalled ffdshow and a newer version of AC3. works like a peach now. Thanks for the suggestions

Hmmm I am running at 16 bit just so I can set my refresh rate at 100. So if it happens again I might try that.

Anytime I've ever had "green" video it was because of the FFDshow filter. Some video files needed a newer version...
