i have an oc'ed 9500pro, currently running at 315/297, its stable for UT2k3 up to 330/297
anyway, my problem is that when i run some games (max payne 2, halo, watching the HL2 movie thing) magically a line of about 5 green dots (they're light green, like the green when you turn on something) and they are horizonal like this : . . . . .
this crops up only in the beginning intros (like the rockstar games thing for mp2) and then they don't seem to appear ever again, although with the HL2 one they keep coming up
btw, the catalyst drivers recognize it as a 9700pro as i did flash it
i tried touching my card, its not even hot, and i have a fan blowing like straight onto it
any suggestions?

rig:

if you have garbage on your screen, most likely some one or more of the extra four pixel pipelines you unlocked are bad... if it's nothing major and you can stand it then don't worry. otherwise, you will have to undo the soft/hard mod you did to the card to fix the artifacts.

Yours is a 9500non-pro, then. Try lowering clock speeds and/or un-softmodding it. Maybe only the core or memory can't endure the high speeds. BTW, which brand is it?

He said it's a 9500 Pro. I don't think those can have the extra pipelines enabled. Anyway, back the card down to stock speeds and see if that fixes it.

There is no soft/hard mod for the 9500 pro. They ship with all 8 pipelins unlocked. It's the 9500 non pro that ships with 4 unlocked, and you can attempt to unlock the other 4.

I don't think that the Cat 3.8's were affecting (killing) the 9500 pros. But anyways try different drivers may help.

I don't think it's the 3.8's either, but you may as well try everything.

yeah, windows calls it a 9700 when you flash to the OC bios with a 9500 pro. It is still a 9500 pro, just a weird glitch.

Do you still have the problem when the card is running at stock speeds? what program do you use to OC it? I doubt that this is an OC issue because all 9500 pro cards should do 320 core no problem.
