i just built a new home server and the specs =
m/b - asus a8n5x
cpu - x2 3800
gpu - ati rage IIc pci
os - xp pro
ram - 1GB pc3200 kingston hyper x
hdds - 1x 60GB, 1x 500GB
psu - fsp 300W green
now the problem is obvious in this pic. my question is why is this happening? this is the 2nd card i have had this issue on, the other being a rage pro or something similiar. is it because these are old cards and possibly a bit messed up as i did not buy them new or is there some noise issue w/ the board? what is weird is during the post screens, everything is clear as a bell, but once in windows, this is what i get.
i have no reason to pick up a higher end gpu as all i need is 1280x1024 or even 800x600, but any resolution i run these at, the same visual issues appear.
i also have no desire to buy a pci-e card as i don't need any gpu power for this as i only actually use the video probably 1x/week at the most, and for at most 20mins.
also, the rig has good ventilation and stays nice and cool with plenty of internal airflow - 80mm in the front, 80mm on the side and then the 120mm on the psu to get rid of the hot air.
please give advice as when i do need to access the machine, this is getting annoying and i was wondering if it is bad in any way to run it like this until i get a replacement...
