Weird Freezing Issue - I've tried everything!

Hello all,

As a last ditch attempt before I force myself to just buy a new PC I'd thought it post my issue and see if anyone has any trouble shooting ideas.

My PC:

MB: Gigabyte X58-UD3R Rev 1
CPU: Intel i-7 920
Graphics: Radeon 5870
PSU: Corsair 750 watt
RAM: 6 GB OCZ
Hard Drive: 250 GB Velociraptor 10000 RPM
G15 Keyboard
Razor Naga Mouse

The issue:

My PC randomly freezes for 1-3 minutes at a time. During the freeze my mouse/keyboard still work but none of the commands actually go through. Eventually, the freeze will go away and all the commands I issued during the freeze go through. For example. lets say my PC freezes and I click on the Google Chrome icon 5 times - during the freeze nothing will happen and nothing will open up. Once the freeze passes, 5 windows of google chrome will open which might be 1-3 minutes later. If for some reason I reboot my PC during a freeze and not let it cycle through...the PC will hang on the loading windows black screen, and the only way to get it to boot up is to do the repair utility. Edit: PC runs fine at idle. Can idle for days.

What I've done:

Reformated Hard drive/Clean Install of Window 7 x64 professional
Flash bios to most recent F6
Swapped out the PSU with one I know works from my last build
Swapped graphics card with one I know works from my last build
Ran memtest 86+ for 24 hours on my memory
Scanned my hard drive for errors twice
Tried different sata ports on the motherboard
Removed sound card/drivers and ran with onboard sound, even tried no sound at all
Disabled Bonjour
Monitored heat and everything displays as normal. Even ran with case wide open.
Delved into event viewer for any type of visable errors with nothing to be found.
Double checked memory timings

Result:

PC still randomly locks up.

I need some help here, cause I'm at a total loss. I can usually trouble shoot well enough to find the issue, but this issue has got me stumped.

Thanks in advance!

KMB, I had many of the same problems on my Windows 7 64bit, and Bonjour was the culprit, not only did I disable it in services, I deleted it using the remove programs in control panel any and all keys in the registry and my problems went away immediatly. Good luck hope uou don't need to buy a new PC because everything else in your post seems to indicate no problems.

Try booting into safe mode.. and see the if the problem still exists... that would help rule out a software related issue vs. hardware....

So the Hard drive, mobo and processor are the remaining components that have not been swapped/replaced.. correct?

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate it bigtime.

Yes, motherboard/processor/HD are the only things I have not swapped yet. I never tried totally removing bonjour, I believe I just disabled it. I will try removing it completely from the system and see if that helps. Again, thanks for the help.

Did you only test the hard drive by running a surface scan on it?

When the freezing occurs, is the hard drive activity light running? Can you listen and feel the hard drive when this happens to see if the hard drive is doing anything?

Could also try setting up performance monitor to see if you can see what your computer is doing when the freezes happen, assuming it would collect anything during it.
