weird fonts in IE!

for some reason, a few days back, the fonts on some websites changed to this weird looking one after absolutely no provocation on my part! havent tried another browser... wanna get rid of this. running IE5.5 on WME. the funny part its not on all sites.. just a few.. and anandtech is one of the few.
my language script is latin based
webpage font is times new roman
plain text font is lucida console

how about view > encoding > western (or whatever else you usually use) ?
does it change the fonts back to normal?
or just choose autoselect -- that should be fine as well (and keep it checked on western encoding)

I have run into the same problem. I was unable to fix it, but I did know what caused it. Somehow, when I changed my windows display fonts to "Large Fonts" and then back to "Small Fonts" the display of some characters on websites got screwed up. As a matter of fact, the display of characters on my own website were screwed up. I think that it only messed up websites using CSS (cascading style sheets) where standard styles ( i.e. <h1> ) are modified, but I am not sure, yet I am fairly certain that AnandTech uses style sheets extensively since I have snooped and reused some of their code.

I would try reinstalling your windows display fonts.

good luck. I never fixed it until I reinstalled the OS.
