I have A floppy that refuses to Read or write. When I go to use it I get "Please insert disk" I then replaced it with a brand new one. Now this is the weird part.Windows assigns it to the Letter Q: instead of A: And it works fine!!

Well Then I reboot and dangit, it went back to the A: and no longer works?! Can someone tell me what is up with this

Do you have any virus protection running?

EDIT - Question Do you mean you replaced the actual Floppy drive or replaced the floppy disk?

I don't know a ton about viruses but they can cause some funky problems. You should have some Virus protection. Norton Anit Virus works great.

Your problem sounds like something funky in the Bios - CMOS setup. Did you look there? Make sure all looks right?

Yea I did look in the Bios, the only thing Pertaining to a Floppy is this Mode3 thing? Its disabled too.

As for the Anti virus- I had Norton AV 2000. But from what I have seen in the news. It dont help :)

I don't know what news has been misleading you but... If you have NAV 2000 and run live update to keep current on the latest virus definitions, you can save yourself many headaches.

Headaches like the one you're having.

I am not saying a virus is the cause of your problems now, but believe me, you should be running virus protection... it does work. This is the voice of experience talking.
