Weird flat tire or blowing stories - lay 'em down

I backed out of my garage one time with an aluminum can behind the tire. That simple alimunium can completely and totally sliced the entire sidewall wide open in an 8" gash.

Plus talked to some of the tire guys this weekend and a lady ran over a pothole and here wheel was shattered into two pieces. They told her it was, they didn't believe them. Can I see? Sure enough her wheel was cracked into 2 separate pieces.

What other totally wild flat tire stories are there out there? Busted wheels, blowouts report!

To continue - semi was kind enough to put on his hazards today. He was spewing rubber left and right at 70 mph before he got her under control.

I've only had one flat tire. At the time my sisters boyfriend and I were scouting some hunting spots one night in some mountains near Vancouver WA. We were in the middle of nowhere. After an hour of driving through old logging roads we finally decided to head back home. Sure enough the worst happens, we blow a tire. Open the back up to put the spare on, it's flat too. So we drive two hours through logging roads then another two hours on a flat tire on pavement. I check my spare tire on a continual basis now

driving across a mountain pass, and a truck lost some unknown steel parts up ahead of me. I could not totally avoid them, and it shredded a sidewall. The spare is low, but I had a can of fix-a-flat to juice THAT up with. I had to split it with the other tire on that side, which was loosing air from the same crap.
The funny part is being out there in the rain with the hatch open, with my rottwieler leaning out, growling at every truck that passed by Good dog!

Driving back from New Orleans years ago, I found a nice "stubby" phillips screwdriver shaft in my right rear tire. The knob had broken off at impact, I would guess.

I said knob, shaft and stubby, all in the same story without being remotely sexual.

Good dog! Ever hear "scrap metal on the road, numerous autos pulled over with flats" on the radio. And it's ALWAY raining.

Went for bike a ride in the rain a few weeks ago, felt a loss of pressure and a thunk with every rear tire revolution. Stopped, checked the tire and found a 3+ inch metal screw which had somehow screwed itself all the way in (this was on the bike with fairly wide tires). I was able to boot the tire with a folder Powerbar wrapper to get going again.

A few weeks ago, I was eating up I-80 at a tad over 75mph, when without warning it felt like I had a flat on the front. I stopped as fast as I could, but was puzzled to find the tires were all fine. Thinking it must have been the grooves in the pavement, I climbed back in and started to pull off the shoulder, but it still felt like I had a flat--only worse. After scratching my head for a minute, I popped the hubcap off the suspect front wheel, and some lug bolts fell out, with nuts still attached. Three out of four lug bolts had sheered! Being in rural Nebraska after 5pm on Labor Day, I thought I was screwed. Luckily, a friend traveling a ways ahead of me managed to find a parts store that was open, and got me some more lug bolts.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you pulled over, that coulda been gnarly. That had to have been a "pure pucker factor" there.

Okay..we were spotlighting, but not poaching. We left the guns and ammo at home that night. We were honestly just scouting some hunting spots to see where the deer travel to and fro. But yes, serves us right for wanting to kill Bambi. Karma got us

Out in the middle of nowhere in Northeast Nevada in the mountains. Stop and let the truck idle to cool down (diesel)....here a psssssss noise...hope its the truck.... turn off the truck, yep, a rock punctured my tire :|

thats not very interesting but the only time ive had it happen in my one year+ of driving
