first off I am running windows XP and have up to date antivirus (panda platinum) and anti spyware (spybot and adaware).

ok, so when I upgraded firfox from .8 to .9, I didn't uninstall .8 like I was supposed to but it worked ok anyways. so when I found out that firefox .9.1 was out I decided to install properly. the way I did that was to unitsall .9, re-intsall .8, uninstall .8 (to get the remnants of it out of my computer as well as thte add-remove programs window), then install .9.1. however after I did that , firefox just wouldn't run. there would be no error messages or anything, and the process "firefox.exe" would be running in the processes list in the task manager, but there is no window, and it doesn't show up in the the "applications" window of the task manager.
so to fix this I figured, hey, I'll do a system restore! I did that, and firefox *still* didn't work! not only that, but if I tried to run Azureus, I got a "fatal exception" java error. so I undid the system restore and installed mozilla 1.7, which I am using to post this message. Mozilaa 1.7 works fine and so does IE so I don't know exactly what the problem is. I would post in the firefox forum but unfortunately it is down right now!
Can anyone give me any tips? I miss firefox :(
