i have 4 machines on my home lan and i share a couple of different folders on my "server" machine so that i can do backup from my machine, wife's machine, etc to it. now for some reason, i can not log into some of the shared folders on the server from my machine, even though they have the same permissions of the ones i can get into from my machine. any ideas as to why this is? server machine is win2kpro, my machine is xppro and wife's is win2kpro.

Do you or your wife have a blank password? I know that Windows won't let you access a share if the account you're logged in to uses a blank password (even if you use the account info of an account on the machine). Hope this helps narrow it down.

no, all have correct passwords.... what i don't understand is that other folders on the same machine are shared fine, and i just duplicated the setting for these new shares, wtf...
