whenever my girlfriend starts her laptop up now it just goes to this screen..

the top line stays on the screen while the bottom two lines flash at the same time.

it stays on this screen until you power off.

also the fan is louder then before when starting up.. and uneven sounding.. it will start/stop again.

do you know what's going on?
 
It sounds like the laptop is trying to boot from the network because it cannot find a boot partition maybe because the hard drive came loose. I googled the error msg and came up with this thread:

The CPU fan is probably louder because the laptop is still in the BIOS and the fan is not being controlled. This should go away when you fix the boot problem.

 
thanks.. I just went to boot order and disabled the network boot.. even though it was already after the hdd.

but it fixed it for her.
