weird error uninstall menu empty

hi
i went to uninstall something and i realized that half the entries are missing and it seems the entire registry key has been deleted... could this possibly happen on its own? not likely eh... wtf :|

Nothing happens "by itself". Well, very rarely anyway. You may want to do a virus scan.
You may have picked up some malicious code.

 
i ran numerous virus scans... nav2002, panda, avg, kaspersky... nothing turned up 🙁

well its about time i did a backup and format anyway...
