Weird Encoding Question

usually when i have been encoding to divx, i will rip the dvd to my E drive (pata) and using FairUse encoder using the Divx Codec will encode the file that will be put back onto the E drive.

when encoding a movie, my cpu usually stays @ 53C according to mbm. just for kicks today i put the iso of the dvd onto my C drive, which is scsi and then had the encoded video put onto the E drive, where all of my Divx Movies go.

now, i have looked at the performance and both use the same amount of processor percentage and nothing else has changed.

my question is why does my cpu run @ 51C when the scsi drive is part of the equation, everything else including case and room temps are the same. just curious...

The encoding itself uses the same amount of CPU, but the CPU usage for SCSI disk i/o should be lower than IDE.

i thought that but 2C is quite a big difference that is why i posted.
