Well guys, I feel as if I have a ghost in my machine or something. Let me describe the problem:

-Normally (i.e. 19 times out of 20) the computer starts up just fine pressing the power button from being off all night.

-Every once in a while, after pressing the power button, the LED's flash, fans spin etc. for a second then nothing. Subsequent pushing of the power button results in absolutely no response. Like it gets no power. If I turn the switch off and back on at the back of the power supply, same thing. After several attempts it may start. And the next howevermany times after that start just fine. No problems.

-I've found a temporary solution when it doesnt' start: Unplug one of the case fans and start it up, then plug it in after it starts. Seems to work after I have cycled the switch on the power supply.

I've scoured the case, and haven't seen any signs of malfunction, shorts or weird phenomena. Anybody have any suggestions?

What is the wattage rating of your power supply? It sounds to me like your current PSU is insufficient for what it has to power. Find yourself a larger PSU and see if that solves your problem.

Flash to the latest BIOS version. If the problem persists, take your cards out one by one and see if you're able to boot. Sometimes, a NIC can cause your type of problems. If the problem still persists, take out RAM modules, one at a time.

Finally, downclock your CPU if you can if you really think it's the PSU (which I don't).

Ive had similar problem on my PC a while back. The problem was the ZIP Drive and Roxio's GoBack software. Uninstalling GoBack resolved the issue.

I used to have that problem before i flash the bios with 6N,
what i did to resolve it is clear the CMOS, and it will start .
Somebody here told me to flash the bios and i never happened again.

Peace
