Weird Ebay Conflict...

Anyways I sold an Ipod for a friend on Ebay about 3 weeks ago. The lady emailed me about 3 days later that she had received it and that her son is very happy. She left me positive feedback and I left some for her...funny thing is now after 3 weeks she emails me and says the Ipod isn't working, and never was in the begining so I'm thinking something is wrong. I was 100% sure that the ipod my friend gave me was working properly as otherwise I wouldn't have listed it and shipped it in the first place...and then 3 weeks I mean comeon who does that and after she left positive feedback as well...

She said that he is with his dad 2 weeks and with her 2 weeks so he just told her this past Monday. The lady has excellent feedback @ like 150-0-0 and has like 15 positives within the last month.

She wants me to refund the money and she said she'll send the Ipod back afterwards...

I'm not an arse but what should I do? Should I refund the money or do you have a feeling this lady is trying to give me back an Ipod her son could have broken...?

5days more than enough for ebay

I agree, if it was DOA that's one thing, but this is 3 weeks latter.

Tell her to piss off. 3 weeks is too long.
Who wouldn't test an electronic item the day they received it? I know I would, just to make sure it isn't/wasn't DOA.

I would tell her that she indicated that it was working from the beginning, and that since it has been three weeks, you cannot refund her money since her son could have broken it in the mean time.

For future sales of electronic items, be SURE and indicated what type of guarantee you offer. I always say something to the effect of "Item guaranteed not to be dead on arrival. No further guarantee offered."

Good luck.

If it was me - 2 weeks = no refund.

If you want to be super nice, tell her to ship it back to you so it can be inspected for damages. Only AFTER you determne it was not abused/intentionally damaged will you refund the money. If she's trying to pull a fast one, you'll never hear from her again.
