Weird display issue with Vista x64

All of a sudden today, I turned on my computer and I had no display. Restarted my computer and turned on my tv and noticed Vista all of a sudden was defaulting to my TV-Out on my 8800gt as the main monitor.

Thought it was weird, so I tried to make my monitor the main display, it wasn't even detected. Unplugged the monitor and switched DVI outputs and it was detected. Set it as the main display, but now I'm limited to 1024x768 resolution. Can't go any higher even though my monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200.

Thought a restart would fix it, no luck. The monitor wasn't even detected on restart, and Vista again defaulted to my TV-out. Tried to restart again without the tv plugged in, no luck, no image at all.

Tried system restore, still now luck.

I reinstalled my video drivers, tried deleting the monitor driver when it was detected (after unplugging then replugging it in).

Finally tried safe mode, everything works normally there.

I'm really out of ideas though, I can't use my computer only in safe mode, and this resolution is rather annoying.

Thought posting here would be best, cause the monitor works fine when my computer is booting up, but not after Vista has loaded (OS issue...).

I've run into similar problems. Mostly due to a graphics driver issue. Check to see if any graphics drivers were installed recently with a windows update. You may have to roll back something.

No drivers were changed during windows update. I don't have automatic updates anyways.

I tried uninstalling the Nvidia drivers again, this time the windows default drivers worked fine at detecting the monitor and dispalying the proper resolution.

Tried re-downloading the nvidia drivers, no luck still not working right.

This time I tried the omega drivers and they're working fine.

Still can't figure it out why no nvidia drivers will work. I tried the 174 beta drivers and the current 169 drivers.

Probably some corrupted nvidia registry entries that get preserved through uninstalls.

I take that back, the omega drivers aren't working.

Kinda weird, they install an install on your startmenu. So you basically end up installing it twice to get the drivers...

Hopefully drivercleaner fixes this...
