Weird desktop problem

This is the current situation of my desktop, happened after a regular update, any solution?

It is a asus pentium dual core , p6200 laptop with raring installed.

Are you running any kind of effects (compiz, etc?)

What video card do you have?

Are you running any third party drivers?

I'm not sure what could be causing it...
 
Does it lock up that way randomly as you're using the PC, or is it just always in that state and still usable?

It almost looks like GUI effects freezing half way. I used to have a similar issue though I did not have effects enabled, turns out it was my video card, or the driver since I switched to ATI and the problem went away. I had a GTX 560 TI before. Nothing but problems.
 
Its just the desktop, which is not refreshing, its a intel 3000 gfx, any way to fix it up without re installing ubuntu ?
