Weird cusl2 problem

when i boot it takes approx 10 seconds to recognize the primary master device
(my maxtor 30 gig hdd)...after that it recognizes the cdrw instantly...

then my other problem is when it boots into windows sometimes i can't access
my cdrw (like it can't recognize a cdrom in there)....is that a problem with
the os, the mobo, or the cdrw itself?

what i want to do is to flash the bios (to 1006 rev, i think that's the most
up to date one, are there any bugs on it? do you recommend that i do that?)
and im going to format the primary partition and reinstall win2k....what else
would u guys recommend? could there be something wrong with the cdrw (because
sometimes the comp recognizes cds fine and I can burn with it)? thanks for
all ur help.

Is the system oc'd? Which bios are you using now? I'm running a similar setup in one of my rigs, with CUSL-C, 700@933, Maxtor 30G HD, etc. and it's one of the easiest & trouble-free systems I set up...

I'm using the bios that came with the motherboard, I think its 1001.

the one time i have seen what you discrided was when one of the ide cables had mysteriously went bad. i still dont understand why it worked fine and then started causeing problems but i know replaceing it solved the problem.
