My mouse started to move very slowly where it seem it wasn’t moving at all but after a while it would jump a bit. Windows crashed and wouldn't start I got a quick blue screen than black.
I was able to boot into safe mode where it worked fine after trying a few things I decided to uninstall the vid card driver. I installed a new one got flickering after a while PC crashes uninstalled the vid drivers now the PC runs with vista drivers.
What do you guys think bad vid card or something else? I also did a repair install .

The flickering thingy could be a by product of something else, and not nessarly be the graphics cards fault.

The mouse lagging, jumping, and windows freezeing, and rebooting... that doesnt sound like the graphics card.

Is your CPU@ stock? running the volts its rated for? (getting enough juice), same with memory?

Gonna go with "Something else".

Just out of curiousity, what MB/CPU/RAM, and values are they running? how big is your PSU, and what GPU is in it?

It doesnt sound like it happends when your gameing, or useing your GPU alot or anything, so its sounds more like a stability issue with CPU/RAM.

It's basically an office pc all stock c2d p35 mobo 4 gigs ram and a nvidia 8500gt fan less, psu 550 antec
The first thing I did was the mem test, all ok. I didn't think it was the vid card but when running with just vga driver it seems ok. I tried 2 drivers one from windows update and one from the web site. The only thing that makes me think is that its' the vid card is that the pc crashes when I installed the video drivers. Is the mouse lag possible because of aero?

Fanless? mabe your card is overheating when you install the drivers?
Grab MSI afterburner and monitor the cards temps.

Installed it hardware not supported pc is running fine for 2 hours now without the vid driver and running virus scan

run driversweeper and unload all nvidia drivers.
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

Make sure you have the latest direct X runtime on your system

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

Try the 266.58 vista driver on Nvidia website.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

get back to us and tell us if it runs better.

Edit: if you card supports the temps feature , when you install the drivers there should be a place in the Nvidia control panal that monitors temps also.

Yeah I did the driversweeper:biggrin: and then installed the 366.58 last night i got flickering on the screen than blue uninstalled the drivers standard vga right now and hasn't crashed so far. Perhaps a corrupt .dill file somewhere.
Will try the dx now
