Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this weird problem for me.

Arctic cooler Freezer 64 Pro
Asus A8N-E Motherboard
Opteron 146 CPU

Normally works a treat but when i play a game (ut2004) under heavy load ASUS probe kicks in saying that my fan speed has dropped below threshold (tends to hit around 600 rpm, whereas nomrally its 2100 RPM). After about 2 secs nomral service resumes, but this seems to happen when theres a lot going on the screen.

There is no loss of performance, so its not the CPU stepping down due to overheating, in fact the CPU temperature barely fluctuates. This is annoying becuase of assus probe beeeping away in the background.

I am reluctuant to diable probe as it seems to be alerting me to a problem (and i want to know if it stops completely).

Any ideas what could be causing this? I never get a problem in normal office apps, only intense 3d games.

Ps It dont think this is a a power issue as i have a 600w Enermax PSU, am not using SLI etc. 1 hard drive, one DVD drive, no big drain devices at all. Also the system is 100% stable. Faulty motherboard perhaps? but why not affecting other applications?

Thoughts appreciated

asus probe is very buggy, especially with fan speeds, when I got that message I was looking at the fan which was still spinning, this happened on my machine of A7N8X-X and now on M2N-SLi too, the other progs dont do this, also if more than one account is logged in that the Probe tends to screw up in every monitoring aspect untill you turn off all but one accounts probe service, its just weird that ASUS still hasnt fixed this yet.
