I've had this weird problem with my chest and I don't know how to fix it. It's been bugging me on and off lately. It's really strange, I don't know quite how to describe it but I'll try, hopefully someone will know...right under my rib cage in the middle, it gets really...sensitive. Not like physically, but kind of on the inside and partly mentally. It just bugs me...it feels like it's about to get something pushed through it. You know how you feel when you have a new cut or something, and you don't want it to be touched, and you kind of withdraw when something comes close to touching it? It's like that, but there's not pain. It's really, really weird. Any ideas?

You say under your rib cage? Is it in the front of your chest like where your sternum is?

Do you play any sports or exercise?

Finally, how old are you?

21, no exercise aside from walking around campus. Going to be doing more. Area is circled in this pic:

Right at the upside-down V. Right where it's soft and fleshy, no bones.

Below your Sternum is a small bone called a Xyphoid. It's small and pointed. Some people say that if you give CPR to someone and are too rough, it can actually break off and maybe even pierce the heart.

My point in telling you that isn't to scare you, but I'm thinking that you may have bumped it or lifted something heavy to strain it. The only thing a doc will do is prod you with a finger and ask if it hurts. Chances are that if you think the soreness is around the bone, it may heal in a few weeks. Usually things like that will heal up in 3 weeks max.

Your Heart Chakra has collapsed.

Have you been the victim of 'death touch' recently?

nah, not that kind of problem. hahaha, I think I know part of it. this is going to sound dumb, but one time when I was a kid I saw this movie (anyone remember? mortal kombat or karate kid or something?) where the secret move was two fingers in the chest to kill someone. maybe I have deep-rooted pyschological issues from that. it feels almost mental, honestly. it's just this thing that bugs me. gaah!

Can you take very deep breaths and breathe completely out and not have any weirder-than-normal feeling? Have you been coughing a lot lately?

ok seriously tho...if this is just some dumb psychological problem, how do I get rid of it? it's seriously bugging me. I think it's partly from that movie and partly from a lack of exercise. the exercise I can make up for, but the mental part...?

I've always had a slight cough. I can take deep breaths fine. I do have mild athsma, which is partly why I don't workout much (ok, ever).

The more you talk about your emotional reaction to it, the more it sounds like a minor anxiety attack.

You've said a bajillion times that you don't exercise... OK, go exercise... and see a doctor.
