Wow; ever heard of Capital Letters or commas? :p

Need to know:
1. Mobo (Epox 8K7A/Abit KG7/etc)
2. CPU (i.e. 1.2GHz Athlon C)
3. RAM (size in mb and manufacturer)
4. Power supply (if it came w/the case, who makes the case)

If this is a pre-built system, this is definitely not good. If it's a self-built rig, something is wrong, but may be fixable. Need more info.

the mobo is a PC CHIPS m817LR
CPU is a athlon thunder bird 1.4gig
ram i have a kingston 256 sd stick and i also have a crucial ddr 256 i have the crucial in right now
the psu mmm im not really sure
it was a auction buy i didn't really think i would get it i was just playing lol it says super computer on the box though

btw for some reason when i use my burning software sometimes my system with have to do a memory dump but only when i have the DDR in it though. so i think maybe the mobo is messed up ??

OK then...where to start...let's go w/a numbered list.

1. I know that PC Chips makes The Ultimate In Sh|tty Motherboards. Add to that a mobo that takes SDR AND DDR? I dunno...does PC Chips even make one of those? RU sure you're not pulling my leg, here? That would not be cool.....

2. No-name Power Supply + Athlon 1.4GHz = big trouble.

3. Crucial (Micron, first-grade batch) is some of the best memory you can buy, period. I doubt it's the memory.

4. It's etiher your mobo or your PS...what's the wattage on your PS? If it's less than 200, get a new, 300W PS and try.

5. If that doesn't work, RMA the mobo.

Good luck.

I thought PC Chips=ECS. The ECS K7S5A accepts both DDR and SDRAM, so I wouldn't be suprised if the motherboard accepts both...maybe trying flashing the bios on the motherboard, see if that helps. Also what burning software are you using? Are you experiencing any other problems with the system? To test the memory go to simmtester.com and download DocMem. If the mobo you have is anything like the ECS then it's an extremely picky little bastard so you might wanna try a different power supply, but to be honest I'd just ditch it for a quality motherboard...but I'm biased against ECS so take that into account (hey, at least I admit it, right?).

What is your CPU temp? The only time I've seen ASCII pop-up on a POST is during overheating.
