Weird Card Problem

A friend of mine recently transferred his camera pictures to his sister's laptop via the SD card slot. As he didn't bring his cable along, this was his first time to do so. Unfortunately, when he put the card back in the camera, the pictures weren't there (i.e. camera view doesn't register any images). He only copied the last few pictures and he didn't delete anything, so the chances of accidental deletion should be nil (same goes for formatting). Any theories, guys? I am still out of town so I couldn't physically inspect the device.

So far, I just asked him to check if the card was inserted properly and to use the card on another device to see if the files are still there.

Finally, while we're at the topic, what's the best photo recovery / SD recovery program out there? It doesn't need to be free. I just need something that will do its job impeccably. Thanks. I need a last resort, hehe.

And, Merry Christmas!!!

Sounds like the MOVE function was used as opposed to COPY. If that was done, there is nothing to recover. You can take the SD card back to the laptop and copy them back to the SD card and they will be in both places.

If drag and drop was used, that is MOVE. To copy, right click and select COPY.
