weird boot up problems

nothing that is too big of a deal, but it gets annoying. When I boot up sometimes I get an error message that my display size is out of range (> 1280x1024). After a couple minutes Windows will finally boot and my display will be fine. Then when it finally does boot, the sound windows makes when it logs on is so loud that it distorts my speakers.

Any suggestions on this one?

Well just an idea but try installing some driver updates for your video card, and maybe try to turn the volume down on your speakers. What have you tried so far??

definitely have the latest drivers. I have a 6600gt if that matters. The speaker volume is fine once Windows boots up. I tried turning the volume in Windows all the way up and adjusting my speakers to that volume, but still have the same problem.
