Hi,

Need your help on this issue please.

Reference pcb 6870, standard clocks, new. The card has troubles witching 2/3D clocks while cold. If overclocked/ given some time to warm up it works okay, but would not allow manual fan adjust (okay with core/mem adjustments) cycling driver recovery mode, not forcing reboots. Is it fan or fan controller issue? I have no similar amp fan, but have a few pwm fans which I can try. Not sure if I should. If it is a fan controller, where is its logic – should I look with a magnifying glass for any damage?

Cannot rma this card as it is practically working and if sent back would incur huge costs (xfx brand, so would not even dare to try).

TIA.

Have you tried messing around with MSi after burner? Something might be clocking it down automatically, so try to set the clocks manually. Also, this might sound dumb, but make sure you're using drivers...

Thanks for a prompt reply.

Yes, can get core to 1k stable in AB, as long as i do not touch the fan, 11.11 divers (tried 11.9-11.10).

While cold it cannot swich 2d/3d causing driver recovery mode (cycled), works fine in 2d until warm enough??? (The fan duty cycle does not change meanwhile)
